International Equity Firm Has Banner Year: Technology Played A Major Role

This international private equity firm, managing almost $5 billion in assets had aggressive goals for business development in the year 2004. Increasing speed of operations while maintaining security was at the heart of their strategic plan. Goals included speed of data transmission, increased capacity and reliability for file storage, Internet and email access, and increased security and control over unwanted email and Internet traffic. As the firm suspected that their network was not operating at optimal speed, they hypothesized that some new solutions might be required.

Speed of Business Decisions Had to Be Maintained.
IT Technology was consulted due to their reputation for providing unique turn-key solutions for a variety of small businesses. As part of the investigative process, IT Technology conducted an audit of all network equipment and interviewed with staff members at all levels in the organization. IT Technology learned that there were great discrepancies in perception about the source of problems. Thorough interviewing and analysis eventually uncovered findings that were clearly affecting the firms productivity. These findings included network storage limitations that were impacting workflow, accessing files and emails, and unnecessary downtime relating to legacy hardware and software residing on workstations and servers.

IT Technology Solution Provides a Roadmap for Proactive Fixes and Strategic Growth.
IT Technology met with the partners and made recommendations to get the firm on a standardized Microsoft platform utilizing industry standard best practices. They addressed issues with email, servers, databases, and general methods and procedures. Specifically, IT Technology recommended that due to the size and nature of the workflow within the firm, that they discontinue the use of Lotus Notes and move to Microsoft Exchange. IT Technology replaced the firewalls and dated network appliances, replaced all mission critical servers including File/Print, e-mail, database and backup. The new servers were configured in a manner which properly loaded balanced server roles and provided a standardized upgrade platform to build off for future upgrades. IT Technology migrated all data from the older network and spent extensive time troubleshooting legacy databases which were no longer supported yet were required moving forward. Finally, IT Technology put a disaster recovery strategy in place including an off site facility which housed backup servers for all mission critical applications.

COO compliments IT Technology for Comprehensive Solution and Adopts Total Recommendation.
